Wedding Trends Expected for 2023

The pandemic left many engaged couples anxiously waiting to safely and fully celebrate their love. Consequently, 2022 quickly became a massive year for postponed events with an overflow of countless, beautiful weddings!

Fortunately for many wedding vendors, the volume of weddings isn't expected to decline anytime soon! With 2023 coming close, numerous wedding trends can be foreseen for next, upcoming season.

What wedding trends can be anticipated for 2023?

Here are my top favorites!

MISMATCHED BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES

For years now, brides have been swaying away from the traditional routes and getting more care-free in the planning of their wedding day. It’s well known and typical for bridesmaids to wear very similar dresses with small variations of neckline or style.

For that, I am so excited for 2023's unique trend of mismatched bridesmaid dresses! Next wedding season, be on the lookout for bridesmaids dresses of not only different lengths, styles, and hues, but colors and patterns as well!

This is a fun trend that allows bridesmaids more options to feel good in their attire while they stand beside their bride on her special day!

STATEMENT FLORALS

Florals are set to be huge in 2023, quite literally! Large, beautiful, attention-grabbing floral installations are ruling over small arrangements in this upcoming wedding season.

Hanging florals and floral arches, in comparison to multiple arrangements in every corner of the celebration, are becoming increasingly popular. Statement pieces not only can be more cost-effective, but they allow for clutter-less tables without feeling like any part of the celebration is under-dressed!

Florals and greenery are a design element that add such beauty to every event and I am so excited to see what statement details the 2023 wedding season will bring!

FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

Your wedding day is one you’ll never forget. But for memory keepsake, wedding photography is so important! With how far technology has advanced, photographers are able to capture high quality, digital photos of the so-called best day of your life!

However, more and more brides are shifting away from ‘perfect’ in many aspects of their wedding planning. Many 2023 brides are intrigued by the vintage, grainy, yet soft style achieved by film photography.

I am fully ready for more artsy, creative wedding photos captured with film than ever before! The timeless feel film can bring to photographic memories is already in high demand and only expected to grow in 2023! Conveniently so, many photographers are willing to bring along a second shooter in order to capture both, digital and film, memories of the big day!

FULL WEEKEND CELEBRATIONS

We have the pandemic to thank for its influence on the ongoing trend of destination weddings and elopements, and I have a feeling we’ll continue to see many of those next season!

A similar trend set to be in full swing next year is full weekend or multi-day celebrations, and I’m here for it!

You may be thinking, “Isn’t a full weekend event similar to a destination wedding since guests almost always spend a few nights in the area?”. Yes and no! Full weekend weddings do not necessarily have to be celebrated in the tropics or in a far-away, luxurious destination! In fact, full weekend weddings can be celebrated right in your hometown and hosted in your own home!

However, it must be made a point that destination and full weekend weddings are both intimate celebrations focused truly on the love of the couple , rather than a magnificent party with hundreds of guests!

So, what does a full weekend wedding itinerary commonly entail?

The celebration typically begins with a welcome party or dinner; a less formal event meant for having fun and socializing! The second day may consist of an all-day recreational activity or adventure, followed by a rehearsal dinner in the evening. The wedding ceremony and reception is then given the full day it deserves, with brunch and goodbyes following the day after. However, it’s all up to the bride and groom and how they wish to celebrate!

More and more engaged couples are utilizing full weekend weddings as a way to make up for lost time with loved ones that a typical ceremony simply could not live up to!

What a way to commemorate love!

2023 is going to be another exceptional year full of unique wedding trends, and I can’t wait to see them in full swing!

From a wedding musician who strongly believes in planning your day in every way that YOU desire, do just that! Remember, only incorporate trends into your day if they fit your style!

And if by any chance you wish to have a wedding harpist play during this special day, I know someone willing to bring that vision to life!

Happy wedding planning!
