I love playing events here in Toronto, just me and my Harp! But have you heard that I also am a part of a Toronto Harp and Cello duo? That’s right! I have more options to accommodate my clients!

Now, I love every second of performing solo at events. But I do understand that it doesn’t fit every aesthetic, and that’s ok! Above all, a couple should let their personality shine through on their wedding day. For some couples, this looks like hiring a solo musician for live music but for others it looks a bit different!

When it comes to hiring entertainment for your event, there are lots of options that we can talk about. We’ve already gone over DJ’s in a past blog, and today we’re going to cover Harp and Cello duo dynamics here in Toronto.

Duets bring a different vibe to your event in many ways.

When people think about acoustic duos there are a few common options. The top two most common ones are guitar and vocals or violin and cello. However, the harp & cello duet has been increasingly popular and are a more unique twist!

I've found that not a lot of people have thought about hiring a harpist for events. (If you're here, you're in the right place for that!)And even less have thought about hiring a harp duo! But keep in mind that not only does it create a bigger sound and has an elegant look, but it adds a different spice to your music choices for your day. It's true that a solo musician can bring a lot to the table for an event. But with a duo you get two passionate musicians who come together to create the perfect ambiance.

Why does it make such a big difference?

Each instrument has its own unique tone, and a combination of both can be very refreshing! The mellow & warm tone of the cello blends very well with the gentle & lustrous sound of the harp. Hiring a duo is less pricey than booking a wedding band. Duos also work well in venues with limited performance space. And they are ideal for venues with sound limiters!

Another thing that I love to mention is the aesthetics of a Harp and Cello duo.

It is very elegant to our eyes. Weddings are to the core about the couple’s love story, right? Well, our love stories are all compiled of the pieces of us from the time we were born until now. I bet you (like me) have been planning the way your wedding will look since you were very young!
