Hands down one of the best parts of my job are all the amazing couples I come across! With meeting and serving so many wonderful people I get asked a lot of questions as a Toronto wedding harpist.
I realized I got a lot of the same questions and I wanted to create an online resource center for couples who need some guidance when hiring a wedding musician.
Here are the top 5 questions I get from engaged couples as a Toronto Wedding Harpist.
How many songs are typically played in a wedding ceremony?
Wedding ceremonies typically last around 20-30 minutes.
Music before the ceremony will set the mood as the guests arrive, and they'll be ready to watch the magical moment that is the ceremony.
Before the Ceremony: you will need about 30 minutes of music! This is about 12 songs and covers the time when guests are taking their seats.
During the ceremony typically you'll need 4 songs:
For the wedding party & Groom
For the bride
During the signing of the registry
During the first kiss & when exiting the aisle
What are some options for recessional music (when the newlyweds exit the aisle)?
This part of the ceremony is so special. let's celebrate your marriage properly! You always want the postlude music to be more upbeat. Here are some great options.

Is the harp loud enough for an outdoor venue?
Yes, the harp can project pretty loudly! But if you are planning an outdoor event, it might be best to have an amplifier! I can usually bring my own but you should ask your musician about renting one!
Do you accept song requests?
Absolutely!
I do accept song requests and I'm always down to learn new music to accommodate your special day as well!
I know that there are songs that are sentimental to each couple and if it's in my power I will do all I can to make it happen for you!
How many songs are played in roughly one hour of background music during cocktail hour?
One hour of background music is roughly 35 songs!
