Choosing Your Wedding Music Set List

A part of your wedding planning that can at times slip through the cracks is selecting your Wedding music set list. I like to stress that the music you choose on your day isn’t only significant because of how it will affect your guests or the ambiance of the occasion,

it will also be playing in the videos of your wedding day! You (and your kids and grandkids) will watch the videos for years to come. these songs will remind you of the happiest day of your life. they will stop you in your tracks and take you back to those happy moments, so it’s important to select a wedding music set list that you love.

That Being Said, Choosing Your Wedding Music Set List Can Be Difficult.

Because of this, I wanted to walk you through my process. This is what I do to choose the right set list for each one of my couples! Every wedding is different and every couple is different as well so I make sure to take this all into consideration when I am carefully selecting each song for them.

The First Step is Asking the Couple if There are any Song Requests.

I make sure to ask if there is any song requests for specific parts of the event I’m playing. For example, if I’m playing the ceremony, what song do they want when the wedding party walks down the aisle? or do they have any song requests for their postlude song? I want to be able to help make the occasion as memorable as possible. So I ask as soon as possible to give me time to learn all the requested songs!

If A Couple Doesn’t Have Song Requests

There are times when a couple comes to me with a blank slate and no song requests!

I ask for the couple’s favorite artists and genres so I can come up with a set list that matches their musical preferences! In these situations I provide the couple with a list of songs that are in my repertoire.

Just to give you a little idea of what that list looks like, it includes classic love songs like L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole and What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. Modern songs like Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran and Shallow by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper. And even some unexpected songs like How deep is your love by the Bee Gees and Versace on the floor by Bruno Mars.

From this list, the couples get to look over the song and select their favorites! There are times where I get full creative control and select songs based on the wedding theme and the couple themselves.

That’s The Process For Selecting A Wedding Music Set List!

At the end of the day, the important part of selecting your set list is making sure these songs feel right. Enjoy the music and the day of celebrating your love! It’s your day and we wedding vendors want nothing more than to make it as special as possible for you! I hope this breakdown of my process has been helpful to you!
